The borough of Birdsboro is located about 8 miles southeast of Reading, PA, along the Schuylkill River, and is one of the largest boroughs in Berks County. It is served by the Daniel Boone Area School District.
Although named for ironmaker William Byrd, who established a forge in the area around 1740 that was the largest domestic producer of iron during the American Revolution and again during the American Civil War, Birdsboro may be more well-known today as the home of the famous American frontiersman, Daniel Boone.
